Service Description

Discover and explore Santa Fe’s two national parks and local communities in this full day adventure. This is a private, naturalist led adventure where we explore Santa Fe’s two national parks: the cloud and rainforests of Santa Fe National Park and the lowland forest, estuary and caribbean beach of Hector Gallegos National Park. We follow the road from Santa Fe to the Caribbean, seeing primary forest and small indigenous villages. We stop for 1-1.5 hour hike in primary rainforest ending at a beautiful, remote waterfall. We continue on , enjoying views from the continental divide, and descend 800m to remote, windswept Caribbean beaches of Santa Fe. On arriving in Calovebora (population 300), we take an hour long private boat ride around the Calovebora estuary (calm waters), where we can spot cormorants, anihingas, egrets and kingfishers. We stop for lunch on the beach. Depending on interest and weather, we can enjoy more time at the beach, or make a final stop on the return trip in the indigenous community of Guabal. Add-on's: Coastal Boat Ride Add-on: (+$50 per group) Instead of exploring the calm waters of the estuary, weather and surf dependent, we can travel along the remote caribbean coast to enjoy a lunch at a remote beach and observe sea cliff caves. This is not always available, as the surf can be heavy exiting Calovebora. Visit Escudo de Veraguas Add-on: Instead of an hour long boat trip, along the coast, we can take a boat to the remote island of Escudo de Veraguas (1.5 hours by boat). Boat fuel is expensive, and the cost is an additional $550 for group (1 – 6 people).
